Biography & Backstory
Christina Eberli joined Sotheby’s New York in 2009. Before entering the Restitution Department, she began as a researcher in the Old Master Paintings Department. As a Restitution Specialist, Ms. Eberli conducted cross-departmental provenance research in order to minimize Sotheby’s and its clients risk of adverse title claims arising from the displacement of artworks during WWII. Ms. Eberli gave restitution training and helped develop and improve systems at Sotheby's. She left Sotheby's in March 2018 to pursue On the Flip Side.
Ms. Eberli graduated Cum Laude from George Washington University with a Bachelors degree in Art History.
I am passionate about art, fashion, and beauty. Art drives and inspires my every day life. I spend most of my free time in museums or galleries and travel regularly seeking art. My passion for art has expanded to fashion allowing me to be creative with my personal style. Many of my friends work in the beauty industry and their passion has rubbed off on me igniting my curiosity to learn more. I enjoy looking at things in a different way, from different perspectives. This drove my work in provenance and restitution.
At Sotheby’s we were encouraged to create new ways to engage our clients outside of our role. I was inspired by my friends and former colleagues at Sotheby’s who have developed exciting programs, lectures, and events. With their support, while at Sotheby's, I created On the Flip Side.
